Location. Poised along a private section of Waikiki Beach, The Royal Hawaiian, A Luxury Collection Resort is set amid tropical gardens in the historical district of Honolulu, Hawaii. The resort hotel stands adjacent to the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center.
Hotel Features. This iconic resort has reopened in 2009 following an extensive renovation to offer discerning travelers an experience steeped in Hawaiian culture. Azure is an oceanfront restaurant serving fresh seafood along with a selection of wines. Surf Lanai is an upscale beachside cafe serving American cuisine with a tropical twist. The Mai Tai Bar boasts ocean and Diamond Head views, and hosts live Hawaiian entertainment. The resort hotel presents luaus once a week, highlighted by Polynesian performances. Wireless Internet access is available in public areas for a fee and a business center is on site.
The resort hotel shares an outdoor pool with waterfalls and waterslides with the adjacent Sheraton Waikiki and also has its own beachfront pool and spa tub. The Royal Beach Club (surcharge) offers six luxury cabanas. The Royal Coconut Grove, once a playground for monarchy, now features cultural programs. The Abhasa Spa offers a variety of treatments in a tropical garden setting.
Guestrooms. The Royal Hawaiian offers 529 guestrooms distributed in the six-story Historic Building and the 17-story Royal Beach Tower. Royal Beach Tower rooms feature ocean-view balconies and contemporary decor. The Historic Building reflects Victorian style and features marble bathrooms. High-speed Internet access is available for a fee. All rooms are equipped with flat-panel televisions, iPod-compatible clock radios and laptop-compatible safes.
