Built in 1910, the Cornell Hotel de France in San Francisco, Calif., resembles a small hotel found on the Rive Gauche in Paris: a perfect setting for couples on romantic getaways and other travelers looking to capture special memories. Guests are even greeted by the hotel's resident golden retriever, Noel. The Cornell is located at the foot of Nob Hill, just two blocks from Union Square's fashionable shopping, restaurants and street entertainment. Passing cable cars ferry travelers less than eight blocks to theater and financial districts, Chinatown, Fisherman's Wharf and other sights.
The Cornell exudes European charm, especially with prints by Matisse, Gauguin and Jeanne D'Arc adorning every nook. A renovated 19th-century elevator transports guests to their guestrooms.
