Location. Set in 10 acres of tropical gardens overlooking a bay, this Pattaya Beach, Thailand, resort is five kilometers from Mini Siam and the Pattaya Exhibition and Convention Hall.
Hotel Features. The Amari Orchid Resort and Tower lobby is a striking combination of black stone tile floors, tall columns and floor-to ceiling windows. The exterior is landscaped with palms, shrubs, grass and flowers. Recreational amenities include a large, free-form outdoor pool with a furnished sun deck, a children's pool, a lap pool, and fitness centers in both the Garden Wing and Ocean Tower building. Sivara Spa offers scrubs, wraps, massage and other services. Dining options include an Asian and Mediterranean restaurant, a bar and grill that serves steaks, burgers and salads and a breakfast buffet restaurant. The resort also includes a bar with live music and a swim- up poolside bar. The hotel has a business center, and high-speed wired and wireless Internet access are available for a fee. Pets are not permitted at the resort.
Guestrooms. The 18-story resort contains 525 guestrooms in the Garden Wing and the Ocean Tower. All Ocean Tower rooms offer balconies with sea views. A small number of Garden Wing rooms also have balconies. The style is contemporary with bright accents. Décor varies. Amenities include wireless Internet access for a fee, DVD players, flat-panel televisions with satellite channels and international direct-dial phones. Rooms also include desks and safes.
Expert Tip. Mini Siam, five kilometers from the hotel, originally offered scaled-down reconstructions of Thailand's most popular attractions. It has since expanded to include landmarks from around the world, such as the Eiffel Tower, the Statue of Liberty, the Sydney Opera House and Egypt's pyramids. Open daily, admission to the park is THB300 (US$9.50).
