Location. The Hotel Palace in Barcelona, Spain, is north of La Ramblas and two blocks from Passeig de Gràcia and one kilometer from Barcelona's Old Town. The Picasso Museum and Museum of Modern Art are less than two kilometers from the hotel. El Prat de Llobregat Airport is approximately 10 kilometers away.
Hotel Features. Built in 1919, Hotel Palace is on a pleasant, tree-lined boulevard in Eixample. Through wrought iron gates embossed with gold, the hotel lobby is dominated by a large chandelier. Complimentary newspapers are available in the lobby and the 24-hour front desk provides services that include safe deposit boxes, translation services and currency exchange.
The Caelis Restaurant serves Mediterranean and Catalan cuisine for lunches and dinners Mondays through Fridays. Open on Saturday for dinners. Serving hot and cold buffet breakfasts daily, Diana's Garden features large patio doors that lead to the courtyard. Two bars, Hall Bar and Scotch Bar, are open daily.
The business facilities include 10 meeting rooms that feature 1919 décor and wireless Internet access.
Guestrooms. The Hotel Palace's 125 guestrooms offer décor of cream-colored walls accented with blue or wine-red color schemes. Solid wood furniture and antique furniture complete the classic charm of the early 20th century. All rooms include dressing rooms, fireplaces and marble bathrooms. Wireless Internet access is available for a fee.
Expert Tip. Passeig de Gràcia, two blocks from the hotel, was the center of the Catalan upper class of XIX century that had become rich with the textile industry, and they intended to show their affluence through the houses they built there. For that reason, some of the most beautiful buildings in Barcelona are in Passeig de Gràcia.
