The Hotel Montechoro is a large modern resort hotel built on a hill, 1.5 kilometres from the sea and beach at Praia da Oura and eight kilometres from Albufeira. The 362 air- conditioned guestrooms, spread over 10 floors, have light decor with fabrics and carpets in warm colours. All include bathrooms with hairdryers and offer satellite TV, direct-dial phones, safes and balconies with views of the sea, inland or the swimming pool.
For food and relaxation, guests can head to either of the two restaurants and two bars. The main restaurant serves Portuguese and international cuisine and is located on the ground floor overlooking the swimming pool terrace. The gourmet Grill das Amendoeiras, on the tenth floor, has panoramic views and is decorated in an almond theme motif. There is also a Piano Bar and the chic Bar Panoramico Aladin, with low-level white furniture and white lighting set against cavernous black walls and ceilings. There are two open air swimming pools (one for children), as well as a TV lounge, games room, gift shop and hairdresser. Guests can work out in the health club, play racket sports on the eight tennis courts (two of which are clay) and two squash courts, and make use of two football pitches. The hotel hosts sports and cultural entertainments, including live shows and special programmes at New Year, Carnival and Easter. Practical amenities include a 24-hour front desk service, concierge services, babysitting services and a free shuttle bus to the beach and Albufeira. Close by, recreational opportunities include horse riding, golf, water sports at Praia da Oura beach and diving. The historical city of Silves is 25 kilometres distance and the hotel is 35 kilometres from Faro Airport, around 40 minutes' drive.
