Location. Originally J. Paul Getty's beach retreat, The Fairmont Pierre Marques is located in Acapulco, Mexico, on a 480-acre estate in the exclusive Acapulco Diamante area. Tucked between the Sierra Madre mountains and the Pacific surf, this resort stands across the street from The Pierre Marques Golf Course.
Hotel Features. Seasonal Mexican contemporary cuisine and more than 100 varieties of tequilas are served at the elegant Tabachin restaurant. John F. Kennedy, Elizabeth Taylor and Aristotle Onassis have dined within this restaurant's sophisticated atmosphere. Bar Pierre is open daily, and offers a sports venue, an intimate lounge section and outdoor veranda seating. Meetings and events are hosted in the hotel's flexible conference rooms that accommodate up to 500 guests. A 24-hour business center offers printing, faxing and photocopying services, and features high-speed Internet access. Three beach-view outdoor pools, five tennis courts, a basketball court, a beach-volleyball court and a fitness room provide on-site recreation. Expert Tip. J. Paul Getty vacationed at this site during the 1950s, and then built the hotel as a retreat for his family and friends. The resort's original buildings were remodeled and are still available to guests.
