Location.  The Le Meridien Gallia hotel in Milan, Italy, is located next to Milan's Central Station. The hotel is within two kilometres of the Duomo cathedral, Castello Sforzesco and Brera Art Gallery. The hotel is six-and-a-half kilometres from Milan's Linate Airport.
Hotel Features.  Opened in 1932 and with an Art Nouveau exterior, the Le Meridien Gallia hotel has a marble lobby decorated with 18th-century Venetian cabinets and Middle Eastern rugs. The hotel has a garden and an onsite gift shop.

The marble- floored Gallia's Restaurant has floor-to-ceiling windows, gold drapes and blue-and-gold panelled walls. The restaurant serves Lombardy specialities such as Milanese veal cutlet. A changing monthly menu uses fresh local ingredients. Dark wood walls contrast with Art Deco mosaics in the hotel's Baboon Bar. The bar has a smoking lounge and serves cocktails, coffees and sandwiches.

From Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP):
Distance to Le Meridien Excelsior Gallia is 45 kilometres, approximately 45 minutes' drive.

Getting there.  Taxis to central Milan cost about 65 EUR-75 EUR and can be arranged by the hotel. The Malpensa Express train runs every 30 minutes between the airport's train station and the city centre (Cadorna station). Single tickets are approximately 9 EUR, and journey time is 40 minutes. Cadorna Station connects to the Milan's metro system. The closest metro stop to the hotel is Centrale. The Malpensa shuttle bus runs to Stazione Centrale (central station) every 20 minutes. The fare is 4.50 EUR and journey time is 20 minutes. The station is adjacent to the hotel. Shuttle services to other destinations, including Turin and Genova, are also available. Getting around.  The hotel is on Piazza Duca D Aosta. The city centre is easy to explore on foot, and there are pedestrianised areas around the Duomo. A comprehensive network of trams, buses and four metro lines offers efficient travel throughout the city. Integrated tickets for all modes of public transport can be purchased at newsagents, metro stations, tobacconists, and most coffee bars. Driving is not recommended in Milan's city centre. There are many one- way streets, traffic is heavy, and parking is limited. Cars parked illegally are towed or fined. Garage and valet parking is available at the hotel (surcharge).
