Location. Named one of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World, The G Hotel is located in Galway, Ireland, just one kilometer from the Roman Catholic Cathedral and Salmon Weir Bridge.
Hotel Features. Louis XVI-style chairs, glass and chrome furnishings and Venetian-plaster moldings are part of the eclectic design crafted by Philip Treacy, the renowned hat designer and native of Galway. The G Hotel won the Travel + Leisure Design Award for Best Large Hotel in 2007. ESPA, Ireland's first "urban" spa, creates a soothing oasis in stone, linen, glass and wood that overlooks a Japanese bamboo garden. Rain showers, rock saunas, tepidariums, ice fountains, fitness center and vitality pool with a water wall add additional appeal. Riva at The G, the contemporary Italian eatery, serves risotto, seafood and pasta specialties amongst purple velvet banquettes and Andrew Martin chairs in jewel tones. A carpet of tiny Red Swarovski crystals graces the G's Cocktail Bar. Six meeting suites boast break-out areas, a Sky Lounge and two theaters at the adjoining Eye Cinema. Wireless Internet access is available.
Guestrooms. Theatrical public spaces give way to subdued, intimate guestrooms. Inspired by Galway's landscapes and seashores, the rooms utilize materials and textures synonymous with a day at the shore, including conch shell pillows and white Frette linens. A CD/DVD player and in-suite library provide entertainment options. Many bathrooms showcase showers built for two, monogrammed bathrobes and slippers, and Etro toiletries.
Expert Tip. Glamorous sitting areas set apart The G Hotel from the rest. A raspberry-colored catwalk leads to the Grand Salon, showcasing Lough Atalia from floor-to-ceiling windows and Swarovski crystals embedded into occasional tables. The Pink Salon features Andy Warhol camouflage print chairs and black-and-white vortex carpet amidst hot pink and purple furnishings. The masculine Blue Lounge boasts golden doorways, Art Deco light fixtures, blue walls and velvet sofas in royal purple and crimson.
