Hotel Features. Minimalism sums up the Side design Hotel's futuristic lobby, where cream hues contrast with grey stone and dark wood panelling, and an open gallery creates a feeling of space.
The wood- panelled Fusion Restaurant blends European and Asian cuisine, and has a sushi bar. A DJ plays music from Thursday to Saturday. Decked out with pod-shaped sofas in vibrant colours, the eighth-floor lounge bar and outdoor terrace afford panoramic views of Hamburg's skyline towards the port and Alster Lake.
The Side design Hotel has a business centre and three function rooms for up to 100 people, centred around the atrium on the first floor. There is a larger function room for celebrations and conferences, accommodating up to 300 people. Wireless Internet access is available in public areas (surcharge).
Opened in 2005, the SIDE spa's signature treatments include Thai massage, lymphatic drainage and a 15-minute lunchtime massage service. The spa includes a fitness area, sauna, and ultramodern pool surrounded by brightly coloured seats.

Getting there. Taxis from the airport to Hamburg city centre cost approximately 20 EUR-25 EUR, and journey time is around 30 minutes. Yellow Airport Express buses run every 20 minutes from Terminals 1 and 4 to Hamburg's central station (Hauptbahnhof). Single tickets cost 5 EUR and the journey takes 30 minutes. The number 110 bus runs to Ohlsdorf station (for the U-Bahn and S- Bahn), nearby to the hotel, every 10 minutes. Subway line U1 and rail lines S11 and S1 run from this station. Private shuttle services travel to destinations across Hamburg. Prices are all subject to change.
Getting around. The Side design Hotel is situated 500 metres from the shopping district. Hamburg's public transport system (HVV) includes underground trains (U-Bahn), rapid transit trains (S-Bahn), harbour ferries, and buses. Daily tickets entitle the user to unlimited travel on all public transport, including the airport bus (number 110). The centre is easy to explore on foot.
Driving directions. From the airport:
Follow signs along the Alsterkrug Chaussee for the \Zentrum/centre to Lokstedterweg.
Turn left, then take the third on the right (Kellinghusen Strasse) to Dammtor station.
Take the third right onto the Drehbahn where the hotel is located.
