Its history began in 1791, when French horticulturist Daniel Louis Jacob established the site as a wine restaurant. For five generations since, the Hotel's Jacobs Restaurant has been recognized as one of the premier restaurants and wine cellars in Germany. Both the Hotel Louis C. Jacob and its restaurants boast endless credentials; they have received kudos from such respected organizations as Gault Millau, the Wine Spectator, and the Guide Michelin, and the hotel was recently granted the prestigious distinction of being a "Leading Small Hotel of the World."
Fully renovated in the 1990s, the Hotel Louis C. Jacob has been modernized without sacrificing any of its characteristic charm. The hotel features one of the largest private art collections in the north of Germany. It has carefully restored the "Liebermann" Room, where the famous German impressionist once lived and painted.
