Location. The Swans Suite Hotel is located in "Old Towne" Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, one-half kilometer from Inner Harbour. The hotel is less than one kilometer from Market Square, Miniature World and Undersea Gardens.
Hotel Features. This boutique property is known as Victoria's Art Hotel because of its original collection of paintings, sculptures and antiques. More than 1,600 pieces are displayed throughout the hotel. The building was completely renovated by local craftsmen. Chair and table bases were locally designed and echo a chandelier pattern at Victoria's elegant Empress Hotel. The black-and-white porcelain hand pulls affixed to the bar were imported from England. Wild Saffron Bistro features Progressive West Coast cuisine. The hotel features live music nightly at Swans Brewpub which includes a patio. A selection of award-winning beers is brewed on site at Swans Buckerfields Brewery. The hotel's function space accommodates up to 200 people and includes a large dance floor. Complimentary Internet access is provided throughout the hotel.
Guestrooms. This property offers 29 suites, most of which feature two-story lofts with high ceilings, open beams and skylights. Many accommodations include private patios, terraces or Juliet balconies. Suites include kitchens. Beds are draped beneath feather duvets during the winter. Suites are cooled during warm months by oscillating fans. Rooms include complimentary wireless Internet access, VCRs and DVD players.
Expert Tip. Michael Williams, the visionary who owned and restored several buildings in downtown Victoria, claimed a disheveled former granary as his labor of love. This property evolved into the Swans Suite Hotel. When questioned, Williams admitted that the hotel's name was inspired by the Hans Christian Anderson story about an ugly duckling that developed into an eye-catching beauty.
